                                                     Canopies - Spinners - Cowls

Canopy - Customised Service

You construct the male mould from some hard material
(eg: balsa wood, wood, plaster or surfboard foam with the
outer surface covered with fibreglass and resin) and Aeroscale
will form a canopy for you.

Please note:
A selvage of 20 mm is required on the base
and on any open ends of your canopy outline.

The selvage must be tappered away from your canopy outline.
If you are using fibreglass and resin,(to prevent printing)make sure
the resin is a minimum of 2 mm thick above the chopped strand or cloth.

Phone me for a quotation or if you need some hints on construction.

Remember!
The final result is only as good as the finish of your mould.
It must be as smooth as you can get it and with a "matt" finish.

NOTE TO THE MODELLER

If you have purchased a Kit, ARF or a canopy could you please send the untrimmed canopy to Aeroscale. This will enable  a mould to be made so that in the unlikely event you require a new canopy the turn around time will be significantly reduced and will increase Aeroscales library.

Attaching your canopy

Your canopy should be carefully trimmed using a good pair of scissors or a knife.

White 'Canopy Glue':  A good quality canopy glue should be used.
The glue can be seen and allows you time to move the canopy into place before drying 'clear'.

Screws or Pins:  It is recommended that a 'pilot hole' be made first to prevent the screws from cracking the plastic canopy. Also, it is a good policy to glue around the canopy to prevent the air from forcing the canopy off during a dive.

Tape: Tape is available from hobby shops However, It is a good policy to glue around the canopy to prevent the air from forcing the canopy off during a dive. The sun can also effect the tape.

Silicone - CA Glue - Epoxy:  All work well. However, care should be taken to prevent smudging or smearing as it is difficult to clean off. Most paints will not adhere over them well.

DO NOT ALLOW A HEAT GUN OR IRON NEAR THE CANOPY
